Several test standards have been developed to simulate long-term environmental effects on these batteries across different size levels (cell, module, pack).

Vibration Testing Standards
  • SAE J2380: Simulates the effect of driving 100,000 miles on battery packs and modules with random vibration profiles.
  • SAE J2464: Evaluates abuse tolerance for cells and battery packs, including thermal shock cycling and shock vibration tests.
  • IEC 62660-2: Specifies reliability and abuse testing for electric vehicle lithium-ion cells, including random vibration and mechanical shock tests.
  • UN 38.3: Simulates vibration loads experienced by lithium batteries during transportation with swept sine tests.
